Seable&Co. and Studio Ro Smit collaborated on the Project High-TECH versus Low-TECH. In this project they pooled their expertise and developed a Basket collection. Ro Smit took his inspiration from the traditional fishing baskets that were made around the former Zuiderzee in the Netherlands.
Ro Smit has developed modular elements from the spare stone and teakwood production of Seable&Co., from which the baskets are made. The marble scanner creates an ultra-high-resolution scan of every slab allowing the use of the material as efficient as possible via computer-controlled programs. With these elements made from spare material, the baskets are knotted together by hand in Ro Smit's Maekplaats. The MAEKPLAATS is a daytime activity for people with a distance to the labor market.
The end result is shown in this Collection Baskets, which can also function as table bases. The collection will be further developed after the first presentation during Glue Amsterdam – connected by design.
